Abstract
Global University Networks (GUNs) are increasingly vital strategic alliances
that enable higher education to tackle complex global challenges. They
amplify collective impact through cross-border collaboration, resource
sharing, and innovation. GUNs enhance educational quality, cultivate global
perspectives, and improve graduate employability via student and faculty
exchange, joint degrees and shared resources, driving groundbreaking
research and solutions for global issues. Despite their potential, GUNs face
hurdles such as technological disparities, administrative complexities, and the
need for equitable partnerships. Future success hinges on embracing hybrid
learning, digital credentials, and skills-based education aligned with the
United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By developing
robust digital platforms and fostering inclusive, bottom-up relationships,
GUNs can effectively leverage their strengths. Case studies, including the
Association of Pacific Rim Universities and Universitas 21, demonstrated
their tangible impact in advancing academic excellence and social
responsibility. Strengthening these networks requires an ongoing commitment
to inclusivity and alignment with global development objectives.
