Abstract
This study examined secondary school teachers’ perceptions of social media use in teaching agricultural science in
Ilorin Metropolis, Nigeria. Four research questions were raised and two null hypotheses were formulated to guide
the study. Descriptive research of the survey method was adopted for the study. A total of 84 respondents formed
the sample size for the study. Researchers’ designed questionnaire was used as an instrument for data collection.
Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the research questions while t-test and ANOVA were used to test the null
hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that the teachers had negative perception on the use
of social media for teaching. It was recommended among others that schools and Ministry of Education and other
parastatals should organize workshops and seminars on the use of social media and ICTs in teaching to ameliorate
the negative perceptions of social media use for teaching agricultural science.
