Abstract
The study synthesized and characterized five d-orbital metal complexes using 8- hydroxyquinoline and Monosodium glutamate ligands. Analytical techniques confirmed the coordination of ligands and proposed geometries for each complex as Tetrahedral for copper, Nickel and Zinc complexes whereas Octahedral for cobalt and Manganese. Analytical measurements used for characterization are FTIR, SEM-EDS, XRD, UV, TGA, molar conductance and BET. These complexes were found to be electrolytic and coordinated through the O-H and N-Pyridine ring of Hydroxyquinoline/Amine of the glutamic.
Computational methods including DFT calculation and in silico assessments, evaluated their biological activity, involving molecular docking and ADME studies. The copper complex showed significant activity as MAOA stimulant and exhibited promising antimicrobial effects against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi, Klebsiella pneumonia and notably Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This research underpins the potential of metal complexes as pharmacological agents with the copper complex showing particular promise for experimental study.
