EVALUATING THE PERSPECTIVES ON NIGERIA’S RESTRUCTURING

Abstract

This paper attempts an evaluation of the perspectives on restructuring in Nigeria. If there is any topic on the lips of Nigerians apart from the issue of 2023 General Elections is the restructuring of the country. There are some perspectives that have been shared by Nigerians on it. Some of these are political restructuring, social, geographical, economic and others. After reviewing the various perspectives, the paper argues that given the dose of emotions contained in the debate, some policy makers have the problem of appreciating the full import of restructuring. Notwithstanding, its essential features and necessity are not unknown in ensuring the full functioning of the federal system in the country for stability. The paper thus concludes that contrary to the perceptions of some persons on restructuring, it does not seem to be the magic wand that can solve all the national problems being experienced in Nigeria.
