The Gatekeeping and Agenda-building Process in Media Production

Abstract

The chapter dissects the interacting processes of agenda-building and gatekeeping in the production of media content and considers the two theoretical mechanisms as a continuum in which the gatekeepers reinforce agenda-builders' power to set the pace and tone of media content. It also explicates how changing media landscape is altering the processes.
